Biodiversity Conservation And Restoration
This project aims to improve Human-Elephant coexistence in the Boteti River region of Botswana.
OBJECTIVES
This project has 3 objectives:
- Improve knowledge of elephant conservation within the Khumaga community and raise awareness among the younger age groups in particular
- Improve human-elephant conflict resolution techniques
- Enhance the economic visibility of farmers’ fields
IMPACTS
- Improvement of living conditions for the Khumaga community
- Increase in the economic profitability of farmers’ crops
- Development of human-elephant conflict resolution techniques
- Awareness among children of the environment and wildlife
EXPECTED RESULTS
- Awareness raised among 80 people in the community per year on Human-Elephant coexistence
- Training of 40 farmers in conflict resolution techniques around their farms
- Increased chilli pepper production and improved agricultural production techniques
